Museums are our Megaphone!

AAM is a week and a half away.  We need your help getting the word out about AAM related activities, and new tools are featured on the AAM web site to make that job easier.

RESOURCES

Take advantage of the tools on the resources page. Get what you need to promote your museum as a proud participant in the AAM 2011 Annual Meeting with a web banner and a blurb and logo for your website and e-newsletter.  Link back to aamhouston.org and the Jim Parsons My Houston video.  Learn how to follow AAM on twitter or tweet about AAM on your own twitter.  Find boiler plates for press releases.  Take advantage of these resources, and help us spread the word about AAM 2011 in Houston.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

Find the latest information about activities and events planned for AAM attendees AND the Houston community. The Art Car Parade.  Volunteering and programming at Discovery Green including Houston’s very own innovative PODA Project.  The first ever community service project.  Please share a link to this page with everyone you know…. friends, family, co-workers, members, volunteers, consultants, board members, everyone who can help ensure a big turn out to show AAM a great Houston welcome.  Here’s the link: http://www.aam-us.org/am11/communityactivities.cfm.

PUBLIC SESSION TRACK

Houston is proud to host AAM’s first ever Public Session Track which extends beyond the traditional professional development and networking opportunities offered in the conference to sessions designed to build the relationship between museums and the communities they serve.  Each Public Session Track is unique.  Examples are a session for parents and caregivers, another for museum board members and trustees, another for folks who want a behind the scenes look at the world of collections and the role of the registrar in a museum.  There’s also a special roundtable session for folks who want to get involved in our museum community….from donor to docent and everything in between.

Help needed:  Send a link out to your members, staff, board, trustees, volunteers, friends, family members, education industry contacts, and corporate friends with offices convenient to the GRB.  Encourage them to attend, highlighting the topics, panelists and the audiences for which these sessions have been designed.  Our AAM volunteers should be encouraged to attend sessions that help them continue their active involvement with museums well beyond the AAM conference, itself.  The link to the page with the details on the Public Session Track is: http://www.aam-us.org/am11/publicsessions.cfm.

MEDIA

Find all AAM 2011 press releases, which make up our full AAM 2011 press kit. Share these with your media contacts, and read the releases to get succinct and in depth information about the various programs and activities taking places as part of the conference.

Thanks so much for all your help!  See you soon!
